By renaming the adjoining Breakwater and Edison hotels in Miami’s South Beach the ‘’Nicky O, a Nicky Hilton Hotel'’ the 22-year-old Ms. Hilton will be stepping into an industry pioneered by her great-grandfather, Conrad Hilton.
The next hotels is planned in Chicago, with plans for 10 more throughout the country.
‘’I just love the life of a hotel,'’ she said. “The restaurant downstairs. The shops. Having housekeepers everyday. I think I know a good hotel, and I love good service.'’
Right on Nicky! Cooking, cleaning, laundry and having to actually go outdoors to shop are soooooooo 2005. It’s almost dizzying to imagine how people lived without housekeepers a long time ago.
Undoubtedly, having grown up living at the Waldorf-Astoria has made Hilton an expert hotelieur - and a venerable foe to the current occupants of the boutique/luxury segment. We can only hope that this project’s creative vision reaches the same heights as Paris Hilton’s “The Simple Life” TV documentary series, and matches the substance and sophistication of her recent yet already classic “music” album.
Best of luck to Nicky Hilton on this endeavor. It is not hard to imagine that the teen girls who comprise Nicky’s “fan base” will be flocking to those $1,000+ a night rooms (penthouses starting at $5,000) for years to come, while any self-respecting connoisseur of chic/luxury lodging will not rest until they are doused from head to toe in the hotel’s “signature scent”.
“I’ve always wanted to do it.”
“I’ve been around hotels my whole life, and I know a good hotel when I see one.”
I grew up around the corner from a hospital - perhaps I should give open-heart surgery a shot.
